I was having a great day until I viewed this film. It made me so depressed I went straight to bed upon getting home. This must be the worse film I've seen in a very long time (even worse than the CGI rubbish being put out at the moment). I would recommend for the sake of your mental health NOT to see this, even at $1. -
Horrible and Depressing Movie!
Unless you are Jewish and want to relive your dysfunctional and pedestrian childhood life then forget it.
How this flick ever got nominated for Best Picture is beyond all comprehension.. There had to be "some string pulling and ballot stuffing" to get this one up there! Was worth the dollar price only because the weather was bad outside! -
It took me two viewings, but A SERIOUS MAN is worth the effort. You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy and be moved by this film -- though I imagine Jewish Americans of a certain age will find it especially poignant. Think of THE SEVENTH SEAL meeting CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS, co-directed by Frank Capra and Billy Wilder. And LISTEN to Grace Slick! Give this one a chance -- Go!
